Wolfe’s career in radio started way back in early 2000. In 2004, he presented himself with the chance to bid on a listener’s car live on the air during a remote radio broadcast from Wolfe Chevrolet in Vernon, Texas. This provoked a reaction from the DJ, and something started to happen.
He realized he was onto something great when the phone lines at the station and the Chevy dealership both started to fill up shortly thereafter. Wolfe, who was at the forefront of this new style of doing business at the time, wanted to make an impressive display of it – practically.
He persuaded Cumulus Media’s Lindy Parr to offer him a Saturday morning spot. Wolfe had no radio experience, so in order to make that idea a reality, he needed to master the art of becoming an expert in radio who could keep listeners hooked on his message.
In preparation for this promising new career path, he spent hours listening to the greatest radio presenters he knew, researching their different strategies, and trying to figure out what made them unique.
Along the process, he collaborated with longtime DFW radio pro JD Ryan, imitation expert extraordinaire Bobby Brown, and longtime producer from DFW’s 1310 Mike Turley. Fast forward and Clay currently airs his show across several stations.
