When Tammy was eight years old, she met Jordan Peterson, who would later become her husband. They were neighbors when they were children in Alberta, Canada, and he fell in love with her at first sight.
Jordan began wearing glasses when they were both in fifth grade. He asked her how he looked in his glasses, and she responded that he was looking odd.
Twenty years later, Tammy acknowledged that she admired him for wearing eyeglasses because she had always wished she could.
Fast forward and the couple married in 1989 and have been together since then. After marrying Jordan Peterson, she started working as his personal advisor.

Tammy ended up choosing to take on the role of foster parent when she was around 30 years old because she genuinely loves children. She has been providing foster care for children for over twenty years.
Tammy normally adopts children from orphanages. Most of these children eventually return to their respective orphanages, while others reunite with their biological families. She said that she became a foster parent in order to give children a home and a family.
In one of her interviews, she noted that each person ought to have a permanent home because it allows them to return to a place (home) even if they make bad decisions in their lives.
