Mazelee Family is a mixed-race family that consists of two parents from completely different backgrounds and seven children. They often upload hilarious videos on their self-titled YouTube channel. Alena Maze is a real superwoman who appears to be able to do it all.

She is the matriarch of this beautiful family. The family uses their YouTube platform to share their challenges, achievements, and shortcomings while highlighting the realities of a blended family.

There is no other way to tell that Alena Maze Lee and Joe Lee were destined to be together. They first met at 13 years old and were close friends but then they grew apart after high school.

A few years later, they cross paths outside of a bar, reunite, and then suddenly lose contact once more. When they finally run into each other again, where else than at a club, after four children and various relationships, they decide to give it a shot.

Alena fully embraces her big family. She says; ” I’ve always loved being around children, and I knew I wanted to have a big family of my own. Following in the footsteps of my mother and grandmother is one of my favorite aspects of being a mother.”

She continues by saying; “I am honored to have been accorded the title of mother. I am learning a lot from my own children and developing as a person through the struggles and successes of parenting.”

Alena Maze is a Strong and Diligent Woman

Alena was 15 when she landed a job that forced her to stand in extremely high temperatures, scorching hot, on her feet all day tagging stuff. She never had a problem since she saw the positive impact this simple task was having on the lives of others.

She was thankful to be earning $5.25. Alena wanted to put in a lot of effort for her money because many employees were employed and then fired. They disliked both the boss and the work.

However, she was mindful to focus on the positive aspects of her boss and the work so that she would enjoy doing the job that no one else wanted.

She had this mindset at the age of 15. She took that same mindset with her at 24 when she got her first real job and had a boss with a very poor reputation.

Every week at work, her boss would harass her but she fought to see any good in them. Even more than ten years later, she has the same mindset while managing her own business.

She clears her mind of any negativity and focuses on the content and significance of the activity at hand in order to enjoy what she is doing. She quoted one of Paul’s books, Philippians 4:12-14;

“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well-fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

Alena and her husband are proud parents of seven children namely; Amyah, Akyli, Azaio, Arazo, Ajedi, Ajoui, and the new baby. Alena always returns to the bathroom as a calming haven for her children in the middle of the commotion of family life.

Everyone likes to visit the bathroom every day because it is the only area in their home with large mirrors. Additionally, cleaning is very crucial in her home.

Alena believes that a tidy home correlates to a clear mind, which is undoubtedly necessary when managing a family of seven children. She also uses household chores to teach her children responsibility.

Every child in the family is assigned a certain task until they progress from it. After making this progress, the task is passed to the younger child and they usually have a small “graduation” party to mark this achievement.

According to Alena, it all comes down to teamwork at the end of the day. She says; “The best thing is just to have them know that it takes everyone’s effort, so we can go on to doing the exciting activities!”

Alena and her husband are a blended family in terms of children but also cultures. Her husband is originally from Korea, and while she is of African American heritage, their children are a mixture of heritage and cultures i.e.; African, American, and Korean. Finding new pursuits and channels of communication is another aspect of blending cultures.

One of the family’s favorite afternoon activities, according to Alena, is exploring new Korean bakeries to place orders from or cooking in their own kitchen, in addition to having at-home karaoke dance parties and reading aloud. Aside from that, every child is learning Korean.

Yes! Alena can add that achievement to her list of successes. She was the first African American to earn a Ph.D. in survey methodology, and she did so successfully. She now studies the mathematics behind surveys as a survey statistician.
